Unlock your Car with these Easy Steps

Forgetting your car keys inside the car is a messy, annoying situation! For most of us, we do not have any idea how to unlock a car, so we tend to break the car window instead just to get the keys back.

Don’t resort to this desperate move any more! Here you will be surprised that it is not actually that complicated to break into a car, whether it has manual or automatic locks.

Unlock a Car with Automatic Locks

Wedge and Poke. Cars with automatic locks can be unlocked by wedging a space in the door and poking to hit the lock button. With this primary method, you won’t damage anything in your car. It sounds simple, but to do this, you will have to use a good wedge and a poker.

It’s all in the tools. The thinner the wedge is, the better! A putty knife would be ideal. The goal is to create enough space for your poker to fit in. For the poker tool, anything that is long and narrow enough to reach and press the lock button will suffice. You could use the antenna from your car (if there is) or if you could find a hanger that you can straighten and fold double for better power poking to the lock button. Professional locksmiths; on the other hand, use an inflating balloon to pump air and finally create the necessary space to insert the poker tool.

Once you have all the necessary tools, you can begin to unlock your car’s automatic lock. First, you have to wedge the door open. Squeeze or pack your wedge tool tightly into the space between the upper part of the door and the car. Tap firmly using the heel of your hand, the wedge tool into the door space.

To avoid damaging the car’s paint, it would be ideal if you cover your wedge tool with a cloth before proceeding.

Now that you have created a space between the door and car’s body, the next thing you should do is to insert your poker tool down to reach the lock button. Press the button using your poker tool. It would be a hit and miss in the beginning, but once you get it, you will successfully unlock your car. Finally, open the door and get your keys!

Unlock a Car with Manual Locks

Before proceeding, make sure to choose the passenger side door when unlocking the car. This is because the passenger’s side door has less wiring making it easier to unlock.

In unlocking a manual car’s lock, you will follow the same procedure of wedging and poking through the gap you created, but the only difference is that you have to pull up the locking pin to unlock the car. You will do this using a coathanger to leash the car lock. You have to straighten the coathanger using a needle nose plier, but make sure to leave on its original shape the hook end of it. Fold or double the straighten part of the coathanger, so it is strong enough.

Next is you have to insert your coathanger, hook end first into the gap between the window and the black rubber weather stripping. Make sure you have at least an idea where the locking pin is before inserting the coathanger to avoid creating damage to the wiring.

Now that you have lowered the coathanger in, move it around carefully until you feel a small pin. The pin is usually located 2 inches below the bottom of the window, and close to the car’s interior door handle.

Finally, you found the pin! Slide the loop over the lock nub similar to a noose and pull it up to unlock the car. Again, it will be a hit and miss because lassoing the locking pin is harder, but soon, you’ll get it!

Unlocking a Car Through the Trunk

You are lucky if your trunk is open because even if your car is locked with your keys inside it, you can still break into your car by finding the emergency cord in your trunk. Open your trunk and search inside for the emergency cord that opens into the car. Usually, you can find it in the roof of the trunk or in the trunk door.

Pull the cord once you find it, and it will unlock the back passenger seats by falling forward, which is a common feature in some models of the car like a sedan.

Now the back passenger seats are unlocked, push them and crawl in. Glide into the car through this trunk entry and unlock your vehicle manually.

How to open a locked car door without using a key

If you’ve ever locked yourself out of your car you know how frustrating that can be! Late for work, locked out of your car in a mall parking lot or stranded late at night, being locked out of your vehicle can ruin your day or even be dangerous. Car doors security and auto lock technology are continually improving and getting back into your vehicle quickly and without damaging the vehicle can be difficult, especially if you don’t have the right tools and experience. Our experienced auto locksmith technicians are trained and have the proper tools to quickly open your locked car door. Depending on your make and model of vehicle will dictate how we cat you back into your car. Listed below are a few different methods for opening a locked car without using the keys.

Pick the Lock and Auto Jigglers

Depending on the make, model and year of your vehicle, some technicians may be able to unlock the door with special lock picking tools. Using a tension tool and picks, they can move the pins to pick the door lock. You could also use a jiggler which is sort of a pre-made generic type key that comes in set for specific vehicle makes. Through trial and error you can test and “jiggle” each on to see if it works in your lock. Lock picking and jigglers may not work on newer cars with precision laser cut keys or transponder keys.

Slim Jim

Popular in movies and TV shows, this is probably what most people imagine when it comes to opening locked car doors. Unlike picking, a slim jim doesn’t try to open the lock itself but opens the door by moving the mechanism in the door. The slim jim is a long flat piece of metal with a notch on the end that you slide down inside the door and hook onto the door latch mechanism and pull it open. Again, like picking, this may not work on newer cars and is usually not recommended to even ty on newer cars as it may damage electronic locks and door airbags.

Wedge & Reach

One of the quickest and easiest ways to open a locked car door and without risk of damaging the lock itself is to use tools to wedge open the door at the window and then use a reach tool to open the lock from inside the car. One method of wedging the door slightly open is to use a thin airbag that can be inserted into the door and inflated to create a gap. Then using a long bendable arm tool you can then reach inside the vehicle and unlock the door. See the video below for quick demonstration of this method.

Call Orange to launch a mobile site for real-time availability of locksmith technicians nearby

Today, CallOrange.com, has announced that it has launched the first mobile website that allows customers to see the real-time availability of locksmith technicians who are nearby, and can show up quickly to help customers with their locksmith needs.

TEMPE, Ariz.Nov. 10, 2015PRLog — Today, CallOrange.com, a promotion company of locksmith, alarms and home automation, has announced that it has launched the first mobile website that allows customers to see the real-time availability of locksmith technicians who are nearby, and can show up quickly to help customers with their emergency locksmith needs.

24/7 Pro Locksmith LLC is a locksmith and alarm company in Arizona. 24/7 Pro Locksmith LLC is already passing nearly 20,000 locksmith jobs a year to independent contractor technicians in metro Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. According to Yuvi Shmul, the founder of Call Orange, “this is the first mobile website that allows customers to see the locations of the closest locksmith technicians who are available, willing and ready to help the customers with their locksmith and security needs.” CallOrange has recently introduced its services to the Tucson, Arizona market, and the company is planning to expand its services nationwide.

Although there are no shortage of advertising, promotion and directory-type companies out there, CallOrange.com believes that their operation is unique. Many other advertising companies capture the information of the clients and send the information to multiple service providers. In turn, the customers get bombarded with calls from multiple technicians. When customers choose to call different companies directly, many companies promote their services based on their location, but their technicians may not be immediately available. Call Orange was designed to allow the customers to communicate with one company, and get the help of a nearby technician, who is available and ready to provide any lockouts and locksmith services.

Transponder Vehicle Key

What is a transponder car key?

I’m sure you are familiar with how a key works. On a vehicle you slide a key into the ignition lock and if the the cuts on the key match the pins in the lock it will then allow you to turn the key and start the car.

A transponder key adds an extra layer of security. Auto manufacturers first started using transponders about 20 years ago. Before transponders it was cheap and easy to duplicate a key or even use a very similar key to start a vehicle. Now even if you have a correctly cut key that allows you to turn the ignition on the car, if the transponder code does not match, the car will not start.

So what exactly is a transponder? Transponder simply means to transmit and respond. In addition to needing the correct key, vehicles now have two additional devices, a microchip within the key and an immobilizer in the vehicle. You key now has a tiny microchip, usually placed within the plastic part of the key, that has a code that when the key is turned in the ignition receives a small charge that then sends the code via radio frequency to the computer within your car that, if correct, will turn off the immobilizer and the engine will start. If no code is sent or if an incorrect code is sent, even if you can turn the key, the vehicle will not start.

The introduction of the transponder key, while not perfect, greatly increased auto security. But that technology has also increased the complexity and cost for auto keys. Instead of having a new key made for a few dollars down at the local hardware store you now need a key with a microchip that can be programed correctly to your vehicle. This make cost hundreds of dollars and a trip to your local dealership.

What are the options if you lose your transponder key?

As mentioned, you can always go to your auto dealership to have a new key made and programed but this can be very costly and time consuming. It’s recommended that you always have a spare key for emergency situations. But in emergency situations when no spare key is available, CallOrange can help. Our mobile technicians can be at your location usually within a matter of minutes. We have the equipment to make you new keys and program transponder keys on-the-spot! We can make high-security laser cut keys and even program keyless entry systems!
